Despite finishing as both the regular season and Big 12 Tournament runner-up, Steve Sabins’ 2026 WVU baseball team accomplished one of their main goals. They have been awarded the right to host the NCAA Regional Round in Morgantown.

Serving as host for the second time in the modern format (2019), West Virginia will welcome three teams to Kendrick Family Ballpark with a spot in the Super Regional on the line.

The Mountaineers enter the postseason at 39-14 and currently ranked No. 9 nationally.

WVU baseball hosting comes after the women’s basketball program hosted the opening regional of the Women’s NCAA Tournament, eventually falling to Kentucky in the second game.

The full 64-team field, first-round regional pairings and site assignments will be announced at Noon (ET), Monday, May 25. The one-hour program will be shown live on ESPN2. The committee will set the entire 64-team bracket through both the super regionals and the first round of the Men’s College World Series and will not reseed the field after play begins.
