FORT WORTH, Texas — West Virginia head coach Neal Brown speaks with the media, including Alan Saunders of West Virginia Sports Now, after WVU’s 24-21 upset win over TCU that also might have cost them multiple key defensive players at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023.

Brown gave updates on the health of safety Aubrey Burks and linebacker Trey Lathan, both of whom will be spending the night in the hospital at TCU. Lathan’s season is over, as he needs surgery on a leg injury. The team is getting good reports about Burks, who left the field strapped down to a stretcher after a potentially serious injury.

He also revealed that an ankle injury to backup quarterback Nicco Marchiol forced Garrett Greene back into the lineup earlier than anticipated. Greene looked great in his return to action, leading all rushers and scoring two touchdowns.
