Neal Brown, WVU Players ‘Extra Happy’ for Hero of Day Rodney Gallagher
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Not only did WVU complete a comeback to win their Big 12 opener, but Rodney Gallagher achieved a personal milestone in the process. Gallagher’s game-winning touchdown catch was also the first score of his college career.
And while they would take the win any way they can get it, the consensus opinion from Neal Brown and the players after the game was that there’s no more deserving player to be a hero for the day.
Brown said he’s always believed Gallagher could become an impact player for the Mountaineers.
Gallagher’s fellow wide receiver Hudson Clement, who made seven receptions for 150 yards of his own, also expressed being “extra happy” for his teammate.
“Heโs been waiting his turn. Iโm just extra happy to see him win,” said Clement when asked about Gallagher.

Despite having to wait his turn now in his second season as a Mountaineer, Gallagher showed why his coaches and teammates always rave about his positive attitude after the highlight of his young career.
“My career has been great and Iโm just continuing to have fun every single day. I really donโt want to be nowhere else.”
Even though it took Preston Fox being banged up to get Gallagher on the field more on offense, it’s safe to say he’s earned more playing time going forward.
Brown did not play Gallagher at all on defense against the Jayhawks to limit his focus, something that clearly paid off for both the team and player in the end.
