Per his Twitter, three-star defensive end Hammond Russell has committed to West Virginia.

Russell (6-foot-3, 245 lbs.) is from Dublin Coffman High School in Dublin, Ohio. He is rated as a three-star prospect by both 247Sports and Rivals. 247 and rivals have Russell as the fifth-best defensive end from Ohio in the 2021 class.

Russell chose WVU over other power five offers from Georgia Tech, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Kent State, Kentucky, Michigan State, Minnesota, Pitt and Purdue.

West Virginia offered Russell on Oct. 26, 2019.

Russell is the sixth committed member of WVU’s 2021 recruiting class.

He joins quarterback Will Crowder, who committed earlier this week, tackle Wyatt Milum, receiver Andrew Wilson-Lamp, tight end Victor Wikstrom and safety Saint McLeod.
