Rasul Douglas Turns in Career Day

Published

on

Former West Virginia defensive back Rasul Douglas found himself in the starting lineup yet again for the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, registering nine total tackles and an interception.

Douglas registered seven tackles last week against the Washington Redskins and his two interceptions on the season lead the team. Douglas’s interception came in the first half on a pass intended for Amari Cooper deep in Eagles’ territory, returning the pick for 17 yards.

Unfortunately, Cooper and Dak Prescott would eventually get the best of Douglas, hooking up for a 15-yard game-winning score on a pass that was deflected by Douglas on the seven-yard line.

“I played it perfectly,” Douglas commented after the 29-23 loss. “I couldn’t get [my] other hand in there to get the pick. I tried to bat it down.”

Though Douglas was on the wrong end of the game-winning play, Don Bell of CBS Sports Philadelphia was quick to applaud the former Mountaineer’s overall performance.

“This is the best game Rasul Douglas has played. Heartbreaking that it ends that way”
