WVU Football
Same Kickoff Time, New Network for WVU Football at TCU
The trend of WVU football kicking off at noon ET will continue in Week 8 when the Mountaineers meet TCU.
As announced on Monday, West Virginia’s next road game against the Horned Frogs has been officially scheduled for noon ET in Fort Worth, Texas on Saturday, Oct. 24. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
It will mark WVU’s third-straight noon game since the prime-time opportunity against Oklahoma State. West Virginia now 3-3 (0-3, Big 12) after losing 52-31 to Arizona on Saturday.
Of course, the recent losing steak is a big reason for the constant early games. Rich Rodriguez’s team has lost three consecutive games at the open of Big 12 play, all including poor performances from the defense.
The defense allowed Arizona to hang 45 of their 52 total points on Saturday, which followed giving up 577 yards and 45 points at Iowa State and 609 yards and 41 points against Oklahoma State.
โItโs really frustrating. I think our fans were fantastic. They showed up today. I thought it was a great crowd. They tried to lift our defense up,โ said Rodriguez about the defense letting down the offense. Offensively, Mike Hawkins, Cam Cook, who did fumble twice, and company racked up 522 yards and 31 points. In the week prior, they put up 518 yards and 42 points, losing a shootout to Iowa State. And the week before that, they reached 476 yards in a 41-24 loss to Oklahoma State.
