Saraland Continues to Win, and WVU WR Commit Jarel Williams Continues to Produce

As if a four-game win streak after starting 0-2 couldn’t get any better for Saraland High School, a huge upset win against No. 1 ranked Spanish Fort High School on the road moved the Spartans to 5-2 and a Homecoming win over Gulf Shores High School moved them to 6-2.

The key factor for Saraland? West Virginia three-star wide receiver commit Jarel Williams.

With 11 catches for 157 yards and two touchdowns, Williams helped lead Saraland to a 28-16 road victory over one of the top teams in Alabama. For his efforts, he was named the WKRG Player of the Week.

Up against Gulf Shores the next week, Williams didn’t have as big an impact through the air, just three catches for 12 yards and two catches for seven yards, but he did open the game with a kickoff return touchdown in which he raced the length of the field.

Through eight games this season, Williams has caught 39 balls for 525 yards and seven touchdowns, racking up 13.5 yards per reception and roughly 66 yards through the air per game. He’s also made an impact in the return game this season, showing off his versatility for a team that’s heating up at the right time.

With two games left on the regular reason schedule, Saraland is heating up in anticipation of a playoff run this year. And after the season is over, Williams will compete for Team Alabama in the annual Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game on Dec. 11 at the University of Southern Mississippi.
