Transfer LB Shay Taylor Offers Brief Recap of His WVU Visit

Despite making it clear he’s not committed just yet, Ohio transfer linebacker Shay Taylor isn’t shy about expressing how much he enjoyed his WVU visit. Taylor, who could possibly play against his former team in 2025 with West Virginia, offered some insight on his experience with the WVU staff.
“Great time at Almost Heaven,” said Taylor while posing a couple images in what could be his Mountaineers uniform.

As a 6-foot-3, 232-pound redshirt senior, Taylor is looking to take his game to another level by joining a Power Four program. And based on his production from 2024, he could be ready for the Big 12.
“Great visit for sure. Coach (Zac) Alley and (Rich) Rod have a great plan for me to fit within their scheme.”
After playing sparingly in his prior season with the Bobcats, Taylor exploded as a major contributor last season. He recorded 73 total tackles, had four pass deflections, three sacks, a couple forced fumbles and a pick while leading a strong Ohio defense.
Taylor also enjoyed team success, helping Ohio win the MAC and end the year with an 11-3 overall record.
In 2020, Taylor left high school in Mount Perry, Ohio with multiple awards to recognize his talent. As a senior, Taylor was named the MVL Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Linebacker of the Year and was an All-Ohio selection.
So far, Taylor also has offers from Arkansas State, Charlotte, FAU, JMU, Middle Tennessee State, San Diego State, UConn, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
