Pat McAfee and Rece Davis

WVU fans never hate hearing Country Roads and were blessed with it during the Pat McAfee Show once again.

McAfee welcomed guest ESPN’s Rece Davis on the show in only the way he can – by singing Country Roads. Once he started to break out in song with the tune synonymous with the Mountaineers, Davis then brought up when ESPN’s College GameDay was at WVU years ago for a basketball edition of GameDay.

Davis brought up how ESPN filmed him and his colleagues singing Country Roads down a literal country road outside of Morgantown as part of their broadcast. “I’m not a West Virginia guy or anything, but I got kinda choked up. It was awesome,” said David about the WVU students at the time jining in and singing along to the rest of Country Roads with them.

McAfee then mentioned how it’s played at every bar in town at midnight every night and how every WVU alum has an affinity for the song. This reminded him of when fellow WVU football great Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones immediately began singing the song once he sat down for an appearance on the show recently.
