Randy Moss ringing cancer bell

Months after opening up about his battle with cancer, Randy Moss was able to complete his greatest victory in the best possible way. The football legend was able to ring the bell to symbolize the end of his cancer treatment.

The video below shows an ecstatic Moss ringing the bell and then telling his doctors and nurses how much they mean to him.

Back in September, Moss sat down with fellow cancer survivor Robin Roberts to an in-depth discussion about his journey on Good Morning America.

โ€œI just think that when you live your life, you know, a certain type of way of, you know, eating right, taking care of your health, and all of a sudden you get diagnosed with cancer โ€ฆ I was overwhelmed,โ€ Moss told Roberts. โ€œIt hit like a ton of bricks.โ€

Moss then detailed dealing with chemotherapy and radiation.

โ€œI talk about my faith in the Lord. I talk about how much I love my family. And I talk about the game that I grew up loving at a small age, and thatโ€™s football,โ€ he said. โ€œI put one more โ€˜Fโ€™ in that, in that category, and thatโ€™s the โ€˜fight,โ€™ because thatโ€™s what I needed to do.โ€

Randy Moss Opens Up About Battling Cancer in Honest Interview

According to a TMZ report, Moss had to have parts of several organs removed during his battle with cancer.

Back in December of 2024, ESPN announced that Moss would be taking time away โ€œfor an extended time to focus on a personal health challengeโ€ with no timetable set for his return. That announcement came weeks after Moss asked for prayers for an undisclosed personal medical issue.

Moss missed the final two months of the 2024 NFL season before returning to be part of the companyโ€™s Super Bowl coverage.

โ€œFor nearly a decade, Randy has been an invaluable member of the team, consistently elevating โ€˜Countdownโ€™ with his insight and passion. He has ESPNโ€™s full support, and we look forward to welcoming him back when he is ready,โ€ said the network in a statement.

Before catching the NFL by storm in 1998, the Rand, W.Va. native caught 174 passes for 3,529 yards and scored 54 touchdowns in two seasons at Marshall. He set several national and school records during his time in college football.

Most notably, Moss won the 1997 Biletnikoff Award, which is presented annually to the nationโ€™s best wide receiver. His 26 touchdowns set an FBS (Division-I) record. Overall, Moss recorded 96 receptions for 1,820 yards that season.
