WATCH: WVU Commit Christion Stokes Does It All for Harper Woods in Season Opener

West Virginia’s secondary took a hit this season, losing a couple of key contributors to the transfer portal. While a few old names will be back for another run and newer players will eagerly step up, it’s clear the Mountaineers will need some new reinforcements in the future.

Enter 2022 three-star athlete Christion Stokes from Harper Woods High School in Harper Woods, Michigan.

Harper Woods ran roughshod over non-conference foe Ypsilanti High School, 55-13, on Thursday, Aug. 26 at home. A big reason for the Pioneers’ victory was Stokes, the senior hybrid running back/safety. Stokes scored three touchdowns Thursday while throwing key backs for his quarterback, darting across the secondary for down-saving tackles and defending passes thrown by Ypsilanti quarterbacks.

According to 247Sports, Stokes is the 469th-ranked recruit in the class. He’s classified as the 36th-ranked athlete and the 14th-ranked recruit from Michigan — the third-ranked athlete. Rivals rates Stokes as a safety, the 31st-ranked in the class while he’s rated as the 13th-ranked recruit from Michigan.

With a hot start for Harper Woods, look for Stokes to emerge as one of the top players from Michigan this season.
