West Virginia Football Adds Commitment from Kent State CB Montre Miller

It took a domino to fall in terms of transfer committing to join West Virginia for another one to follow.

Soon after Kent State wide receiver Ja’Shaun Poke announced his commitment to WVU, his teammate with the Golden Flashes did the same. Cornerback Monte Miller tweeted “straight business…let’s rock” with a graphic of him wearing a WVU jersey and the words “committed” on the top.

Miller will be transferring as a graduate student with one year of eligibility remaining. He posted about receiving an offer from West Virginia just hours after sending out his message to Kent State that he intends to finish his college career elsewhere.

Miller was a member of the Golden Flashes program for five years, taking a redshirt in his true freshman season and also drawing another campaign from the impact of COVID-19.

The 5-foot-10, 179 pound South Carolina native recorded 52 tackles, 40 solo, in 2022, while also tallying two interceptions, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and eight pass breakups.

Miller played sparingly for his first two seasons with Kent State before earning the starting cornerback spot as a junior. He totaled 99 tackles, 79 solo, with six interceptions over the last two years. WVU still has plenty of work to do to rebuild the roster, most notably in the defensive secondary.
