West Virginia Football Receives Commitment from 3-Star DB Josiah Jackson

The West Virginia Mountaineers pick up their fourth commitment for the Class of 2023.

Ohio 3-star defensive back Josiah Jackson (Fairfield, Ohio) tells WV Sports Now that he’s closed down his recruitment and is committing to the Mountaineers. The 6’0″, 170-pound cornerback received other offers from Boston College, Cincinnati, Bowling Green, Indiana, Iowa State, Miami (OH), Toledo and Vanderbilt before deciding on WVU.

Jackson’s chief recruiter on the West Virgina staff was Jordan Lesley.

“This means a lot to me to commit today,” Jackson tells WV Sports Now. “I made the decision to commit early because the day I first visited West Virginia it felt like this was the school for me. What stood out to me about West Virginia from the other schools that were recruiting me was just the family-oriented environment and just the scheme of their defense. It fits perfect for me and also my family is in love with the program.”

“I believe the strengths of my game is my versatility to play more than one position in the backend and I am a playmaker so I’m good at making plays on the ball and they see me at corner at West Virginia.”

Jackson has previously made two unofficial visits to West Virginia, back on January 30 and more recently on March 4-5.

Jackson joins 3-star quarterback Raheim Jeter (Spartanburg, South Carolina), 3-star defensive tackle Cameron Jackson (Spartanburg, South Carolina) and 3-star running back Jahiem White (York, Pennsylvania) as early members in WVU’s Class of 2023.
