West Virginia Opens as a Home Underdog Against Iowa State

It finally happened. West Virginia won a road game AND covered the spread Saturday in a 29-17 win over TCU in Fort Worth, Texas.

WVU will come back home for a contest against No. 22 Iowa State, but the Mountaineers open as a 7-point underdog to an Iowa State team that’s won three in a row — including a 24-21 win over then-No. 8 Oklahoma State on Saturday. The over/under is set at 51.5 points.

DraftKings Sportsbook has set Iowa State as a 7-point favorite, odds for WVU to cover set at -120 and for Iowa State to cover at +100. The over/under is set at 48 points with both the over and under holding -110 odds.

FanDuel Sportsbook has set slightly shorter odds for WVU, setting Iowa State as a 6.5-point favorite. The odds for WVU to cover have been set at +102 odds while the odd for ISU to cover have been set at -124. The over/under has been set at 46.5 points, the under holding -104 odds while the over holds -118 odds. A moneyline bet on WVU holds +235 odds while the same bet for ISU holds -300 odds.

WVU and Iowa State have played nine times since 2012, with the Mountaineers holding a 5-4 advantage. However, the Hawkeyes have won the last three — including a 42-6 win in 2020.

WVU is 3-4 this season but 4-3 against the spread while Iowa State is 5-2 this season but 3-4 against the spread.
