WVU Basketball Could Hire Senior Advisor to Help Josh Eilert Guide Program

MORGANTOWN, W.Va – While West Virginia director of athletics Wren Baker decided promoting Josh Eilert in an interim capacity was the best decision for the WVU basketball program, he did announce the possibility of a new role to help guide an inexperienced head coach.
When Baker and Eilert met with the media, including WVSN, on Monday, Baker revealed that he is now also interested in finding someone to fill a senior advisory type of position. The intention behind this is to have a person who has been a head coach before, likely at a high level, be able to serve as a sounding board for Eilert.
WVU AD Wren Baker did reveal he could hire someone to fill a senior advisory type role to help Josh Eilert guide the program throughout next season since he has not been a head coach.

Baker did not offer any potential names, although fans will speculate, or any further details about what will be asked of whoever assumes that role.
Eilert, served under Bob Huggins for the past 17 years and has been with WVU the last 16 , has signed a 10-month deal for $1.5 million.
He is set to be the interim head coach for West Virginia during the 2023-24 basketball season. After the season is over, Baker and officials will evaluate Eilert’s job and go into a national search during the spring.
