WVU Basketball Makes Cut in Andy Katz’s First 76-Team NCAA Tournament Projection
College basketball analyst Andy Katz gave WVU basketball a spot in his first bracket prediction since the field expanded to 76 teams.
Katz has WVU playing Villanova in a No. 12 seed opening-round game in the Spokane Regional as the 49th-ranked team in the tournament.
The new tournament format features 76 teams with an opening round consisting of 12 games. Katz has WVU playing in an opening game, with the winner facing No. 5 Purdue in the round of 64.
A March Madness appearance next season would mark the first for WVU since 2022 in Bob Huggins’ final season. WVU is coming off a postseason appearance, securing a College Basketball Crown Title after defeating Oklahoma in the championship game.
