The West Virginia Mountaineers (7-5 5-4) will be heading to the Heart of Dallas Bowl to face the Utah Utes (6-6 3-6) from the Pac 12.  It will be in the Cotton Bowl on December 26th on ESPN at 1:30

There has only been one meeting between the two programs.  They met in the 1964 Liberty Bowl, in Atlantic City, in the first ever major college football game played indoors and the first college broadcast nationwide (ABC).  The Mountaineers lost 34-6.

Although West Virginia will be without starting quarterback Will Grier, it will be fun to see what the offense will work on in bowl preparations. The Mountaineers showed the wildcat formation against Oklahoma and found success.

Utah’s offense is ranked 47th nationally and the defense is 32nd.

The Utes are 2-6 in their last 8 games and their biggest wins on the year are Arizona, UCLA, and Colorado.

Utah quarterback Tyler Huntley has 2,726 total yards and 19 touchdowns on the year.  Running back Zach Moss rushed for 1,023 yards and 9 touchdowns.

The last time West Virginia played a Pac 12 team, was in the Cactus Bowl against Arizona State and the Mountaineers won 43-42, January 2nd 2016.
