CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Despite playing in hostile territory, the WVU women are considered to be slight favorites over North Carolina for Monday.

The second-round NCAA Tournament game will be played inside UNC’s Carmichael Arena, but DraftKings (-1) and ESPN (-1.5) are giving a slight edge to the Mountaineers, according to most major sportsbooks Sunday morning.

WVU advanced to the second round with aย 78-59 win over Columbiaย in its tournament opener Saturday afternoon. Star guard JJ Quinerly led the Mountaineers with a game-high 27 points, putting herย over 2,000 for her careerย and moving her into sole possession of third-place all-time for scoring in WVU history.

North Carolinaย defeated Oregon State 70-49ย in the nightcap Saturday. The Tar Heels led by two points after a hard-fought first half but pulled away in the third quarter. Lexi Darnoski led UNC with 19 points, while Maria Gakdeng finished with 13 and Alyssa Utsby, the programโ€™s all-time leading rebounder scored 10.

The winner will advance to the Sweet 16 in Birmingham, Ala. and face Duke on March 28.
