Just hours after a visit to Pitt, top 2025 prospect Alier Maluk received an offer from West Virginia on Tuesday evening. Maluk also will visit WVU for an unofficial visit on Aug. 20, he told George Michalowski of Pittsburgh Sports Now.

“Aug. 20 is my date,” he said. “Looking forward to seeing the campus, seeing everything. Looking forward to getting out there.”

Maluk (6-foot-10, 190 pounds) is a power forward at Imani Christian Academy in Pittsburgh. Maluk is currently ranked as the No. 23 prospect in his class according to ESPN. The rising sophomore should be considered a 5-star recruit when he is ranked by other recruiting sites.

Maluk has been in contact with WVU assistant Larry Harrison. Maluk is learning what West Virginia basketball is all about through Harrison.

“I talk to Larry Harrison,” Maluk told WV Sports Now. “He tells me that they play a lot of defense and that they like high-motor players. They get downhill, they get straight to it. He tells me all about their program, their assistant coaches and everything.

WV Sports Now will keep up to date with the latest recruiting and transfer portal news during the offseason.

Player Evaluation: Alier Maluk’s game is exactly what you would expect out of a modern-day big man; he can do it all. Maluk is able to handle the ball, running the offense at times. He can shoot the ball, finish down low, dribble and play defense. Maluk’s ceiling is extremely high as he’s just entering his sophomore year in high school.
