In order to take advantage of kicking off the 2024 season at home against an opponent like Penn State presents, the WVU football program is welcoming potential future Mountaineers to Morgantown for a visit.

Scotty Fox, a 2025 prospect already committed to West Virginia, revealed he will be in attendance when the Mountaineers take on the Nittany Lions at Milan Puskar Stadium.

“Excited to get back down in Morgantown for the Penn St Game!!!,” said Fox as part of a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday.

The Mentor High School in Mentor, Ohio product announced his commitment to WVU after a win during the 2023 season following the game. Fox posted a graphic on social media and added “committed!!!” as the simple caption.

Fox, who initially received an offer from West Virginia back in May, has remained in steady contact with the WVU coaching staff. He even recently visited on Jan. 20.

Fox also earned offers from several other major programs, but is locking in with the Mountaineers despite having multiple seasons of high school left. Boston College, Kentucky, Indiana, Marshall, Michigan State and even the team West Virginia beat on Saturday Cincinnati are among the schools who offered Fox.

Fox won’t be the only WVU quarterback commit in town to end the month of August and kickoff a new college football season.

2026 four-star quarterback Brodie McWhorter will be on campus and visiting the WVU football program as the Mountaineers kickoff the 2024 season against Penn State.

McWhorter, who announced his commitment to West Virginia on June 24, added his upcoming visit as part of a post to thank the WVU staff on Sunday.

“More than thankful for all the love and letters from my people – Blessed to be a Mountaineer. Can’t wait to be back in Almost Heaven on the 31st,” he said.
