All 105 is a West Virginia Sports Now series profiling each member of the 2025 WVU Football Roster.

Redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Ayden Bussell transferred to West Virginia from Tennessee following the Volunteers’ spring practice period. After working his way onto the field as a reserve last season for a team that made the College Football Playoff, Bussell could earn a bigger role for himself in 2025.

Even with an open competition on the offensive line as the Mountaineers look to overhaul the position group, Bussell will need to beat out a series of older transfers. To his credit, Bussell has experience at both tackle and guard, which could open up more options for him on the field. However, he missed the spring practice period as a late addition to the team.

Last year: The 6-foot-5, 309 pound tackle took 62 snaps in 2024, dipping his toes into the college game as a reserve.

Stats: Bussell appeared in three games for the Volunteers over the course of two seasons, taking a redshirt year as a true freshman.

Camp outlook: WVU Football completely overhauled their offensive line room this offseason after losing all five of their starters. Although he missed the spring practice period, committing to West Virginia in early May, Bussell could create a role for himself with a strong summer showing.

Projected role: Bussell has spent time at both guard and tackle during his football career, positional versatility that could help him make it onto the field. If Bussell canโ€™t lock down a starting tackle spot against more experienced competitors like Ty’Kieast Crawford, Mickel Clay and Walter Young Bear, he could see time as a reserve or extra lineman in heavy sets.

Accolades, highlights: A three-star recruit out of high school, Bussell earned two preseason All-State nods in his native Tennessee and didnโ€™t allow a sack in his final three seasons.
