West Virginia lands a commitment from transfer wide receiver Jaylen Ellis.

The Baylor transfer announced he’s staying in the Big 12 and moving to Morgantown with a tweet late Tuesday night. Ellis, who entered the Transfer Portal on April 17, decides to commit just days after visiting for the Gold-Blue Game.

Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 184-pounds, Ellis now gives the Mountaineers another wide receiver looking for more of an opportunity at WVU. He appeared in 13 games with the Baylor, catching five passes for 141 yards and a touchdown.

Despite his minimal production in college, Ellis was a US Army All-American Bowl selection out of high school and had offers from several major programs once he entered the Transfer Portal.

He picked West Virginia over offers from Auburn, Utah and Texas A&M.

Ellis becomes the third transfer receiver added by WVU along with Devin Carter and Ja’Shaun Poke. West Virginia also still has offers out to other transfer receivers as well.

WVU brought in Carter to be the number one option, Poke to help both in the passing game and as a returner option and are expecting other receivers on the roster to step up. However, adding one more receiver with major conference experience provides an extra layer of comfort for the offense.

Ellis is WVU’s second Power Five transfer commitment in the last two weeks.
