WVU Basketball received a commitment from Illinois transfer guard Sencire Harris on Sunday afternoon, per his Instagram. Harris completed his visit to West Virginia this weekend.

Harris (6-foot-4) spent two years at Illinois under HC Brad Underwood, playing in one season. The Canton, Ohio native averaged 3.7 points and 2.1 rebounds on 43% shooting during his freshman season in the 2022-23 year. Underwood decided to redshirt Harris this past season to work on his development. Out of high school, Harris was a four-star prospect out of St. Vincent/St. Mary’s High School, where LeBron James attended. New WVU associate HC Chester Frazier was listed as the lead recruiter for Harris out of high school.

Harris hopped into the transfer portal once Frazier to West Virginia was being finalized last Monday. Harris has three years of eligibility remaining.

Harris is the second transfer WVU has landed so far this offseason, with Tucker DeVries being the first. WVU also has a high school commitment from former Drake signee KJ Tenner.

West Virginia has lost Josiah Harris (F), Seth Wilson (G), Patrick Suemnick (F), Kerr Kriisa (G), Jeremiah Bembry (G), Kobe Johnson (G) and Ali Ragab (C) to the transfer portal so far. The Mountaineers currently have just two scholarship players on roster from last season in Noah Farrakhan and Ofri Naveh.
