Even after a couple ex WVU players were released, West Virginia will still be well resented on NFL rosters at the start of the regular season.

Below are the former Mountaineers currently on an NFL team’s main roster.

Geno Smith – Las Vegas Raiders

Geno Smith loves proving doubters wrong, and that’s exactly what he’s planning on doing in his debut season with the Raiders.

“I’m always the guy that I believe the game gets settled between the white lines on game day,” Smith said while appearing on NFL Network’s Inside Training Camp Live at training camp.

“But from my vantage point, we’ve got a really, really good team. I don’t know if we’ll shock anyone inside of this building, but maybe shock some outsiders. But it’s good, like let them sleep. I don’t want them to see us coming. We’re just working in the shadows right now, getting our game right, and when it’s time to go in those bright lights, I think we’ll be ready.”

Geno Smith Ready for Raiders to Prove Doubters Wrong: ‘Let Them Sleep’

Smith was officially introduced by Las Vegas in early April after being awarded a new contract following his trade to the Raiders.

“So excited to get to work. I can’t wait to get to work and see all you guys. We’re prepared to go out there and win. Can’t wait to see all you guys,” said Smith in a video posted by the Raiders on social media.

Smith’s new deal is a two-year extension that’s worth up to $85.5 million and comes with $65.5 million in guaranteed money.

The Raiders traded for Smith after Seattle decided to go in another younger direction and eventually brought in Sam Darnold.

In his final season in Seattle, Smith threw for 4,320 yards while completing 70.4% of his passes. Smith also ran for 272 yards on the ground. He scored 23 total touchdowns to go along with 15 interceptions, his second highest total from a single season after his rookie year with the Jets.

Zach Frazier – Pittsburgh Steelers

In the middle of a Steelers preseason game, Zach Frazier was honored for his rookie year.

At halftime, the WVU product was presented with the “Joe Greene Great Performance Award” as Pittsburgh’s top performing rookie. This award was voted on by the Pittsburgh chapter of the Pro Football Writers of America, in which WV Sports Now’s Mike Asti is a member.

Steelers Honor Zach Frazier for Being Named Top Rookie

Frazier was drafted by the Steelers with the 51st overall pick in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Despite being a rookie and missing a couple games with an injury, Frazier was graded as one of the top centers in the NFL all year by PFF. He opened the season as Pittsburgh’s starting center due to a season- ending injury to incumbent Nate Herbig.

Dante Stills – Ariana Cardinals

Now going into his third season with the Cardinals, Dante Stills has recorded 89 total tackles and eight sacks in two years in the NFL.

After a record setting college career at WVU, the Cardinals drafted Stills in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Austin Brinkman – Houston Texans

Rex Sunahara – Cleveland Browns

Wyatt Milum – Jacksonville Jaguars

Wyatt Milum signed with the Jaguars on May 10, locking in his rookie deal for four years and worth over $6 million, including a $1.25 million signing bonus, $1,205,312 guaranteed and an average annual salary of $1,569,326.

It took until the second day of the NFL Draft for West Virginia’s Wyatt Milum to hear his name called. Milum was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the 89th overall selection of the third round.

“I’m not going to let anyone touch Trevor Lawrence,” said a confident Milum during his conference call with the Jacksonville media the night of the draft.

David Sills V – Atlanta Falcons

Rasul Douglas – Miami Dolphins

Rasul Douglas has finally found his next NFL home as the standout cornerbackwill leave the Buffalo Bills to join one of their AFC East rivals.

Douglas has agreed to a one-year, $3 million deal with the Miami Dolphins, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

PFF listed Douglas as their No. 15 free agent and seventh in terms of just defensive players back in February.
