Former WVU Football Player Kelvin Dubouse Has Died

The WVU football family has lost a former Mountaineer player. Former West Virginia defensive lineman Kelvin Dubouse has died.
The news of Dubouse’s death started to circulate on Monday morning. Dubhouse, who would’ve turned 44 in July, played at WVU from 2001-02 as a defensive tackle. He played in 10 games as a sophomore, totaling 15 tackles.

The Havaco, W.Va. native was a four-year starter for Coach Leon Gravely at Mount View High, earning all-state honors as a junior and senior for the Golden Knights. He was also an honorable mention all-state as a freshman and sophomore.
Most recently, Dubhouse served as a volunteer football coach at Mount View High School.
Dr. Ingrida Barker, McDowell County Schools Superintendent, released a statement about Dubhouse’s death.
“We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Mr. Kelvin Dubouse, a cherished member of the Mount View School community. Mr. Dubouse served as a dedicated volunteer football coach, positively impacting the lives of countless student athletes. Coach Dubouseโs passion for the sport and for mentoring young people was evident in everything he did, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. As we grieve his loss, we also celebrate the positive impact Coach Dubouse had on our students and staff whose lives he touched.”
WVU legend Quincy Wilson shared his own words on social media after hearing the news.
“Heartbroken is an understatement. Prayers to all. RIP KD,” said Wilson on Facebook.
Dubouse took part in Darius and Dante Stills’ football camp last year.
