Fans of the Seattle Seahawks can be thankful for Geno Smith this week.

Seattle will be on the prime-time stage on Thanksgiving night, but there’s been some doubt if Geno Smith will be leading them on the field. It now appears that the former Mountaineer will be able to play on Thursday night.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carrol told the media that he expects Smith to start against the San Francisco 49ers. Smith suffered an injury and left Seattle’s 17-16 loss to the Rams last weekend. He did return to try to lead another one of his signature comebacks, but has since been listed as questionable on the injury report.

In 10 games so far this season, Smith has thrown for 2,404 yards, scored 12 touchdowns and has seven interceptions. He has an 89.7 quarterback rating and has also added 65 yards rushing on the ground.

This game is one of two matchups between the NFC West rivals in the next three weeks. San Francisco currently holds a one-game lead in the division race over the Seahawks.

Even with Smith expected to play, oddsmakers are still favoring the 49ers on the road. After saying he believes Smith will be good to go, Carroll then added that he is not as optimistic about running back Kenneth Walker.

Kickoff between the Seahawks and 49ers in a Thanksgiving nightcap is set for 8:20 pm ET and will be televised nationally on NBC.
