Mitchell, Reese Drop 20+ in Best Virginia Win Over Herd That
CHARLESTON, W.Va – Best Virginia had three 18-point scorers for an in-state win over Herd that in the TBT second round Sunday at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
Forward Tre Mitchell had 23 points while guard James Reese V had 20. Guard Keddy Johnson had 18.
Herd That forward Jacorey Williams battled inside with forward Wesley Harris, scoring an and-one for a 3-0 lead.
Mitchell scored five straight points with a layup and left-corner three for a 5-3 Best Virginia Lead.
Harris was assessed a flagrant one while trying to contest a shot against Williams. Williams made it 8-7 off a free throw before Reese made a three-point shot.
Best Virginia held the lead after the first quarter, 22-18.
Mitchell opened scoring in the second quarter with a mid-range turnaround jumper to make the score 24-18. After two free throws from guard Keddy Johnson, Mitchell made another three, forcing a Herd That timeout.

Best Virginia’s lead continued to swell throughout the quarter, as a 6-0 run gave the Mountaineer alumni squad gave it the largest lead of the first half at 44-29.
Williams made a layup before the halftime break, but Best Virginia held a 44-31 lead going to the locker room. Mitchell led all scorers with 12 points as Reese followed with nine.

Mitchell continued to make plays in the third quarter, as he scored five straight points for Best Virginia’s largest lead of the game at that point, 54-39. Herd That responded with six straight points before the media timeout at 3:52.
The Best Virginia lead started to slip before an and-one layup and free throw by Johnson over guard Stevie Browning made it 59-48 with 2:15 in the third. Johnson and Browning were both assessed technical fouls after the play.
Best Virginia held a 64-54 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Johnson drilled a three-pointer to start the fourth quarter off an assist from Mitchell.
WVU led 73-58 to start the Elam Ending with the target score set at 81.
Marshall scored the first seven points of the Elam Ending before Johnson hit a crucial three to make the score 76-65.
