Neal Brown Confirms WVU Football CB Out for Season

The news most were expecting about a player WVU football was planning to rely on has now been confirmed by head coach Neal Brown.
During his weekly press conference on Monday afternoon, Brown noted cornerback Montre Miller is officially out for the season and will need to surgery.
“He’s going to have surgery and he’ll miss the remainder of the year. He’s going to have to seek an appeal. We’ll have to seek a waiver on that,” said Brown. Last week Brown said “the ball was in Miller’s court” in terms of when and if he could get back on the field.

The Kent State transfer only played in WVU’s season opening loss to Penn State, recording three tackles in the game.
Miller was a member of the Golden Flashes program for five years before transferring to West Virginia, taking a redshirt in his true freshman season and also drawing another campaign from the impact of COVID-19.
The 5-foot-10, 179 pound South Carolina native recorded 52 tackles with 40 solo in 2022 while also tallying two interceptions, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and eight pass breakups.
Montre Miller played sparingly for his first two seasons with Kent State before earning the starting cornerback spot as a junior. He totaled 99 tackles, 79 solo, with six interceptions over the last two years.
The Mountaineers are set to continue progressing through the season without Miller by hosting Texas Tech this Saturday at 3:30 pm ET.
