OL Amare Grayson Already Has Trust of Coaches, Star RB | WVU Football All 105

All 105 is a West Virginia Sports Now series profiling each member of the 2026 WVU Football Roster.

Following Rick Trickett from Jacksonville State, transfer Amare’ “Bubba” Grayson joined the WVU offensive line in January.

The 6-foot-1, 310-pound Grayson comes to West Virginia with two years left of eligibility. He spent the past two seasons with the Gamecocks, playing under Rich Rodriguez in 2024 and Trickett as his position coach in 2025. He also blocked for the nation’s leading rusher, fellow Mountaineer transfer addition Cam Cook.

All in all, he has a big advantage over his peers in terms of earning the trust of his coaches and star running back.

Grayson saw action in 26 career games with the Gamecocks, including 22 starts. He played in almost 1,700 snaps over two seasons (977 run block plays and 664 pass blocking).

Playing in all 14 games two years ago, Grayson had eight starts at right guard and was named to the Conference USA’s All-Freshman team. He also didn’t allow a sack.

Post-Camp Outlook: Grayson came in with an advantage over his fellow offensive lineman – he already experienced playing for Trickett.

Projected Role: His experience with Trickett should earn him playing time and make him a reliable part of WVU’s new offensive line, regardless if he’s named a starter.

Accolades, Highlights: Grayson was named a Conference USA First-Team Offensive Lineman. He’s only allowed one sack in his college career.
