Randy Moss is widely recognized as one of the best wide receivers in football history, and that extends beyond just the NFL and into college football as well. However, it sounds as if Moss doesn’t feel as appreciated by the latter.

In December, Moss will be officially inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, an honor some, including Moss himself, argue is long overdue. Moss was even posed with that exact question by a confused Kay Adams during his recent appearance on her “Up & Adams” show.

“I mean, you got into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018. What took so long here?,” asked Adams.

After a brief smirk, Moss echoed her confusion and asked a question of his own. “But I think when you do it backwards, am I supposed to be excited?”

While Moss finally receiving his just due for his phenomenal college career at Marshall is the most important thing, it is interesting to see and hear him unable to hold back his honest reaction about being part of the 2024 class so many years after he played his last college game.

Moss did also add that he’s very appreciated of any Hall of Fame that wants to honor him and it’s special for his family that his legacy will live on forever.

For context, players are eligible for consideration 10 years after their last college season. That means Moss, who wrapped up his college career as a Heisman candidate for his brilliance during the 1997 season, has been eligible since the 2008 selection cycle.

Before catching the NFL by storm in 1998, the Rand, W.Va. native caught 174 passes for 3,529 yards and 54 touchdowns in two seasons at Marshall. He set several national and school records during his time in college football.

Most notably, Randy Moss won the 1997 Biletnikoff Award, presented to the nation’s best wide receiver. His 26 touchdowns set an FBS (Division-I) record. Overall, Moss recorded 96 receptions for 1,820 yards that season.

For a related story, Moss was told about his inclusion in the College Hall of Fame live during ESPN’s Sunday Countdown show.
