There may not have been a lot of options to choose from, but three Mountaineers won player of the week awards from the Big 12 for their performances against Kansas Saturday.

The Mountaineers and Jayhawks played in the only Big 12 games last week, with WVU winning 38-17.

Junior running back Leddie Brown won Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week. Brown set a career-high with 195 rushing yards on 18 carries. He also caught five passes for 36 yards and scored two total touchdowns. Brown also had the biggest play of the day, scoring his second touchdown on an 87-yard dash up the middle.

Junior linebacker Josh Chandler-Semedo won Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week. He led the Mountaineers with nine tackles, including a half tackle for loss. He also had several big hits throughout the game.

Finally, true freshman defensive end Akheem Mesidor won Big 12 Newcomer of the Week. The Canadian recorded six tackles with two sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss. It was his first career multi-sack game and now put him at four sacks on the season.

WVU will travel to Lubbock, Texas this week to take on the Red Raiders. Kick off is at 5:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
