As the WVU football program continues to remain active during the winter portal window, the coaching staff narrows down which players are a top priority.

Those top priority players are the ones West Virginia wants to lock down as soon as possible and are going to be trying to impress this coming weekend.

These are the transfer players WVSN has heard will be in Morgantown this coming weekend for a visit.

Tennessee Tech transfer safety Gerald Kilgore

Kilgore is considering the WVU football program, FAU and South Carolina. A redshirt freshman in 2023, Kilgore still has most of his career in front of him as he looks to move up to the FBS level. Listed at 6-foot and 202 pounds, Kilgore recorded 37 total tackles and 2.5 tackles for a loss this season.

Ohio State transfer safety Cameron Martinez

After being rated as a four-star recruit coming out of high school in 2020, Michigan native Martinez decided to sign with the Buckeyes. He eventually found a role as a backup player on the Ohio State defense during both the 2021 and 2022 season. But unfortunately for Martinez, injuries derailed his chances to have an impact in 2023.

Martinez still has two seasons left of eligibility thanks to a COVID-19 waiver for 2020. He recorded 36 tackles, an interception that was returned for a touchdown and four pass break-ups throughout his time in Columbus.

There Could be More…

There are also rumors of a wide receiver from a Power Five program being on campus. That player is believed to be Oklahoma State transfer wide receiver Jayden Bray, but that has not been confirmed.

Bray revealed WVU as one of the programs to send him an offer on his first day available. He would bring experience and production with him to his next team.

Bray made 30 receptions for 382 yards and scored two touchdowns for the Cowboys in 2023. Fellow Big 12 member Cincinnati also offered Bray. Washington State and USF are in the mx with interest as well.

WVU head coach Neal Brown mentioned receiver as one of the key positions West Virginia would be looking to fill with transfers when he spoke with the media last week.
