Following West Virginia’s regular season finale win over No. 11 Kansas State on Saturday, ESPN bracketologist Joe Lunardi has WVU off the bubble. Lunardi has WVU as a 10-seed in his notes, No. 37 overall.

Lunardi has WVU playing 7-seed Kentucky in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. That would put former Mountaineer Oscar Tshiebwe against West Virginia in Columbus.

“We’re in,” WVU G Erik Stevenson said postgame. “If we’re not in I don’t know what to do. Who else do we have to beat? Do we have to play Joe Lunardi one-on-one?”

Stevenson has a point. West Virginia is 18-13 on the season with six quad-1 wins. The Mountaineers only have one loss from quad-2 to quad-4, falling to Texas Tech at home a couple of weeks back.

West Virginia’s best wins this season are: Iowa State (A), Kansas State (H), Iowa State (H), TCU (H), Texas Tech (A), Pitt (A) and Auburn (H).

WVU will head to Kansas City to face Texas Tech in the first round of the Big 12 Conference Tournament. West Virginia will be playing for their seed line in the NCAA Tournament.
