West Virginia head coach Neal Brown and company have landed one of the biggest recruits in Pennsylvania this cycle, bolstering the 2022 class with yet another four-star.

A week after Neumann-Goretti teammate Raleigh Collins III committed to WVU, four-star wide receiver Kevin Thomas has committed to the Mountaineers. Thomas (6-foot-3, 190 pounds) announced his decision Friday afternoon, via Instagram, committing to WVU over Michigan State after delaying his decision from Wednesday.

Thomas had offers from WVU, Michigan State, Arizona State, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, UCONN, Florida, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Oregon, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Tennessee and Texas A&M. He narrowed his decision down to WVU, MSU, Florida, Nebraska and Texas A&M on July 7.

With official visits to WVU on June 11 and MSU on June 25, his decision came down to the two schools, and his WVU visit —  building connections with four-star quarterback Nicco Marchiol and being impressed by the program WVU coach Neal Brown is building — solidified his commitment to WVU.

In a previous interview with West Virginia Sports Now, Thomas pointed to Brown’s dedication to improving WVU football in attracting his commitment. “They’re building the program back up to where it used to be, they’re bringing in guys, they’re bringing Nicco — that’s the main thing that attracts me,” Thomas said.

According to 247Sports, Thomas is the 477th-ranked recruit in the cycle. 247Sports ranks him as the 64th-rated wide receiver and the 13th-rated player in Pennsylvania. Rivals rated him as the 36th-rated wide receiver and the seventh-rated player in Pennsylvania — the top-ranked wide receiver.

Thomas joins three-star Alabama wide receiver Jarel Williams as the wide receivers committed to WVU in the 2022 class.
