WVU Basketball KenPom Update Before Final Non-Conference Game

WVU basketball will wrap up non-conference play Monday when it hosts Mississippi Valley State. Without a true quality win, the Mountaineers currently sit at No. 69 in the KenPom rankings.

The Mountaineers went from No. 74 to No. 71 despite the team’s 89-88 double overtime loss to Ohio State. Even though WVU has moved up since then, the team’s net rating dropped from 11.91 to 11.85.

West Virginia has a resume of a 70-54 win over Mount Saint Maryโ€™s, a 73-65 win over Campbell,ย a 69-47 victory over Lehigh, a 71-49 domination of Pitt in the Backyard Brawl, aย 81-59 blowout win over Lafayette,ย a 70-38 ย routing of Mercyhurst,ย a 91-49 blowout win over Coppin State and a 90-58 win over Little Rock.

WVU started last season at No. 87 in the KenPom rankings and ended at No. 51.

This season marks the first year of Ross Hodge at the helm of WVU, with the program seeing its fourth head coach in as many years.

Looking at the rest of the Big 12, Arizona is No. 2, Iowa State is No. 3, Houston is No. 9, BYU is No. 10, Kansas is No. 16, Texas Tech is No. 24, Baylor is No. 30, UCF is No. 44, TCU is No. 57 and Oklahoma State is No. 62. Colorado trails WVU at No. 70.
