WVU Football RB recruit Christian Lawrence

West Virginia is in the midst of battling a couple rivals for a 2026 running back recruit from Georgia. After fielding offers for months and being in contact with WVU since January, Christian Lawrence has narrowed down his list.

Lawrence, offered by WVU on Jan. 31, has the Mountaineers competing with Cincinnati, Pitt, Purdue, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest in his top six.

Lawrence (5-foot-9, 185 pounds) attends Thomas County Central and is considered a three-star recruit. He also ranks within the top 100 players in Georgia and among the top 50 running backs in the country.

Lawrence is booked to take an official visit to WVU on the weekend of June 13-15. This will be a week after his official visit with Pitt.

With about 20 Division I offers, Lawrence had opportunities on the table from other Power Four programs like Arkansas, Maryland, UCF and Vanderbilt and even other notable schools like Charlotte, Liberty, JMU and USF.

Lawrence ran for 1,468 yards on 161 carries for an average of 9.12 yards per in 2024. He scored 18 rushing touchdowns and caught 32 balls for 326 yards.
