WVU Football Staff Made JUCO Commit Aaron Edwards Feel Wanted

WVU football head coach Rich Rodriguez isn’t scared to take a chance on lesser known talent, with the latest example being junior college safety Aaron Edwards.
Edwards, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound safety from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, chose West Virginia over New Mexico, Rutgers, Texas State, Tulsa, UTSA and UTEP on Sunday.
He then spoke with WV Sports Now, explaining why he decided to join WVU over other offers that may guarantee more immediate planting time.
“The coaches truly believe that I can make an immediate impact in the defense in a lot of formations and positions. They treated my family so good and they want whatโs best for the kids! And the academics are great, they got however much help you need or want. Itโs a great place to be and it just felt like home,” said Edwards.
WVU won Edwards over only a week after defensive coordinator Zac Alley extended him an official offer. Edwards was wrapping his official visit with Tulsa when he heard from Alley. He then spent the past weekend in Morgantown before committing.
“They said I will have a opportunity to showcase my talent in a lot of positions mostly at the will position but in different formations Iโll be Sam nickel so they said I will get a chance when I come and thatโs all I need is a chance,” revealed Edwards about what he heard from the coaching staff.
Edwards is coming off a junior college season in which he recorded 63 tackles and forced three fumbles.
