WVU Lands Huge Commitment From 4-Star RB Lamy Constant

Neal Brown needs to add more elite talent to the roster in order to make West Virginia a contender once again in the Big 12 and tonight he added a major piece to his future roster.

2020 4-star running back Lamy Constant (6’0”, 190) from Brooklyn, New York gave a commitment to the Mountaineers. Big credit to assistant coach Chad Scott who was the lead recruiter on Constant.

If you go by his 4-star status and the schools that also offered him like LSU, Texas A&M, Michigan State, Baylor, Michigan, Miami, Pitt, Minnesota, Nebraska, South Carolina and Tennessee, landing Constant is a major get for West Virginia.

Following his decision, West Virginia Now talked with Constant who becomes the 13th commitment in their Class of 2020.

First thing we asked Constant was why West Virginia and why tonight?

“It’s merely how comfortable I felt dealing with Coach Scott, who is not only recruiting me to the school but he will be my position coach too,” said Constant.

”The West Virginia coaches are extremely genuine and super honest and I feel as though those are some of the traits I needed to be around to elevate my game towards someday being where I want to be. Also, Coach Brown is really invested in his players in the sense of not only them playing the best ball they can but also becoming the best people they can be. He’s formally building and structuring young men and preparing them for life as a whole,”

When you’re a 4-star recruit and have the talent that Constant has, that comes with pressure but he realizes that and is looking forward to bringing winning football back to Morgantown.

”Yes, honestly that is something I am looking forward to. I plan on getting on campus and contributing as much as I can as fast as I can,” said Constant.

Constant will join a 2020 depth chart that includes Leddie Brown, Alec Sinkfield and Martell Pettaway and despite being a freshman, he has every intention of being West Virginia’s lead back come 2020.

”I feel as thought I’m a real patient runner that may take it the distance at any point during the game,’ said Constant. “I am versatile to the point that I can be put anywhere on the field and will be able to produce at a high level.”

Prior to tonight’s news, West Virginia made the final grouping for two other running backs: Kenny Tracy and D.J. Lundy. It will be interesting to see if the decision by Constant impacts their decisions, assuming Brown decides to take another running back.
