WVU Names Mary Roush 68th Mountaineer Mascot
MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – During the men’s basketball game on Saturday, West Virginia University named Mary Roush as the 68th Mountaineer in the school’s history.
Roush becomes the third woman to hold the honor of being the Mountaineer, as Natalie Tennant (1990) and Rebecca Durst (2009) served as the school’s mascot. Roush also becomes the first ever freshman elected as the Mountaineer.
And your 68th Mountaineer Mascot is … Mary Roush! 💛💙
As the third female Mountaineer and first freshman Mountaineer, Mary will proudly represent our University, our state, and all 1.8 million West Virginians!
