The trophy case keeps growing for WVU baseball second baseman JJ Wetherholt.

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released their All-American teams on Thursday, with Wetherholt making the first team as the best second baseman in the country.

Wetherholt led the nation with his .449 batting average (also a program record), logging an OPS of 1.304 and becoming just the second player in program history to reach triple digits with 101 hits. His 16 home runs led the team, and he added 36 stolen bases as well as the Mountaineers won a share of their first regular season Big 12 title since joining the conference.

The honor comes after Wetherholt, the Big 12 Player of the Year, became a finalist for the Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award and the Dick Howser Trophy, as well as a handful of other First-Team All-American recognitions.

Wetherholt, a rising junior, has two years of eligibility remaining, and must exhaust at least one of those years before becoming eligible for the MLB Entry Draft.
