West Virginia’s starting guard Kedrian “Keddy” Johnson has made Mountaineer Nation aware that he is thinking about the idea of returning to Morgantown for his fifth year of eligibility. Johnson has the option for a fifth season due to the COVID-19 rules that give student-athletes an extra year to play.

Johnson had a message for the fans after the 70-64 win over TCU on Saturday.

“Dear Mountaineer nation, you guys are some of the most loyal, loving fans that I’ve ever experience in my basketball career,” Johnson wrote. “I just have one question❤️….ONE MORE YEAR?👀”

Johnson is finishing up his second year at West Virginia, after playing two years of JUCO ball at Temple College in Texas. The 6-foot-3 guard has appeared in 30 games his senior year, starting in 28 of those. Johnson is averaging 5.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.6 steals per game. The Dallas native is fifth in the Big 12 Conference in steals with 49.

Johnson walked on senior day with his mother.

Johnson’s teammate, Sean McNeil, announced after the TCU game that he is unsure about his future with West Virginia.

“I don’t know, we’ll see how the summer goes,” McNeil said. “I honestly couldn’t tell you.”

McNeil is the other senior Mountaineer to have the option to return to the team next season.
