Long-time WVU assistant Ron Everhart will transition into a support staff role this upcoming basketball season. Everhart’s new title is the director of community relations and player outreach.

Everhart spent 11 seasons as a main assistant under Bob Huggins. Everhart was a part of 225 wins and six NCAA Tournament appearances. West Virginia advanced to the Sweet-16 three times with Everhart. Before, Everhart was the head coach at Duquesne (2006-12), Northeastern (2001-06) and McNeese State (1994-01).

Everhart will prepare for his 12th season with West Virginia’s program, first with the new role.

Eilert announced the rest of the support staff: Jay Kuntz (director of player personnel/recruiting), Trent Michaels (director of men’s basketball operations), Jared Kortsen (video and scouting coordinator) and Tyler Cheng (athletic data statistician).

“The rest of the staff is invaluable to our program,” Eilert said. “They work many, many hours behind the scenes and all make vital contributions to our team’s success.”

Eilert and his new coaching staff will look to continue retaining the current roster. Syracuse transfer Jesse Edwards announced on Sunday that he will stay at West Virginia after the coaching change.
