WVU Football DL recruit Quintin Goins

Being named the MVP of the day by the WVU football coaches clearly shows you made a positive impression. That’s the case for West Virginia native and class of 2024 defensive lineman Quintin Goins.

WV Sports Now reached out to Goins (6-foot-3, 250 pounds), who attends Jefferson High School, after he stood out enough to earn MVP honors of the WVU football “big man” camp this week. And standing out is the goal for a player still looking to gain offers and find his college home.

“They gave me an MVP award for the whole camp and they said to keep doing a hell of a job,” said Goins. His recent experience at WVU was far from his first.

Goins visited for the spring game and has actually been in steady communication with members of the West Virginia staff. He said the WVU coaches always tell him they feel he can become a solid player.

As far as what Goins is doing to get ready for his final high school season and impress college coaches even more, he’s working in every way possible. “Still working though, staying in the gym and getting field work. There is always room for improvement. That’s just my mentality,” Goins said with confidence.

For those wondering about other programs possibly interested in Goins, he’s also visited Maryland and Utah and talk with their coaches frequently as well.
