Former Mountaineer Jack Sammarco Jumps from WVU to Elite SEC Brand

A week after his WVU exit, Jack Sammarco is joining an even bigger brand than West Virginia. Sammarco has committed to transfer to Alabama and go from the Big 12 to the SEC.
Sammarco’s WVU departure was first noticed on April 15 when he was no longer listed as a member of the team. Up until that point, Sammarco appeared to be in line for an increased role.

Sammarco, a member of Neal Brown’s 2024 class, was considered a top 50 recruit in Ohio and a top 100 tight end nationally out of high school. He attended Anderson High School in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Sammarco picked WVU over offers from Akron, Army, Bowling Green, Connecticut, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Miami (OH), Montana State, Toledo and Western Michigan. Cincinnati, Duke, Iowa State, Indiana, Louisville, Michigan, Penn State, Pitt, Tennessee and Virginia Tech were some other schools who also showed interest in Sammarco.
Many speculated that Sammarco was a potential starter based on Johnny Pascuzzi and Jackson Accuardi were cut following the Spring Showcase event.
