Potential Starting TE Removed from WVU Football Roster

In a somewhat shocking turn of events, a player who was competing for a starting spot has been removed from the WVU football roster. Tight end Jack Sammarco now appears to be exiting the West Virginia program.
Sammarco has yet to publicly announce his departure, but he is no longer listed on the roster and his personal page on the team site no longer exists.

Unlike most of the players who have been posting about hitting the portal since being cut after spring ball, Sammarco appeared to have made the team after spring until now.

Unlike most of the players who have been hitting the portal since being cut after spring ball, Sammarco appeared to have made the team until now. Of course, there is always the possibility he decided to leave WVU on his own, granted that does not fall in line with what WV Sports Now has been hearing.
Sammarco, a member of Neal Brown’s 2024 class, was considered a top 50 recruit in Ohio and a top 100 tight end nationally out of high school. He attended Anderson High School in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Sammarco picked WVU over offers from Akron, Army, Bowling Green, Connecticut, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Miami (OH), Montana State, Toledo and Western Michigan. Cincinnati, Duke, Iowa State, Indiana, Louisville, Michigan, Penn State, Pitt, Tennessee and Virginia Tech were some other schools who also showed interest in Sammarco.
Many speculated that Sammarco would likely move into an increased role based on Johnny Pascuzzi and Jackson Accuardi being cut following the Spring Showcase event.
