Meet the WVU Basketball Team: Honor Huff, Standout Shooter

Ross Hodge made a splash signing in the transfer portal after landing senior guard Honor Huff from UT Chattanooga, adding a premier scorer to the Mountaineers.
Huff’s biggest strength is his three-point shooting. He led the nation in three-pointers made with 131 last year with a 41.59 percentage. That three-point percentage would have him as the 19th highest season average in WVU history if he were a Mountaineer last year.
On the year, Huff averaged 15.2 points per game. His season-high in points came against VMI when he tallied 31 points while shooting 9-10 from three-point range. He also averaged 2.3 assists per game while hauling in 1.8 rebounds per game.
UTC finished last season 29-9 with an NIT Championship victory. Huff averaged 15.8 points in the tournament run, stepping up in key moments to lead the Mocs.

The 5-foot-10, 168 pound guard finds his three-point opportunities in various ways, nailing catch-and-shoot attempts as well as having success off the dribble. According to College Basketball Scouting, Huff had a 63% effective field goal percentage on catch and shoot attempts with 67% on off the dribble shooting.
The rising senior is also a dangerous shooter from all over the floor, as he made 19 threes deeper than 25 feet.

Huff also made plays driving to the hoop, as he finished last season with a 53% shooting percentage at the rim, which is where 14% of his shots came from.
Huff’s resume as an NIT champion made him an attractive recruit for Hodge, who has built the WVU roster from the ground up this offseason.
“Honor has been part of winning, most recently the NIT championship. He has a great personality that people gravitate towards and will represent the state and the university well,” Hodge said in a release on April 14.
