ODU Transfer Safety Tahj Ra-El Commits to WVU After ‘Great’ Visit

To no surprise based on our recent conversations, Old Dominion transfer safety Tahj Ra-El has decided to commit to WVU.
Ra-El made the announcement on X (Twitter) by posting an and a GIF of him wearing a West Virginia uniform. This comes after he spent the weekend on a visit to Morgantown.
Ra-El announced his plans to transfer on Dec. 30, simply posting a screenshot of Old Dominion submitting his transfer request. The Charlotte, North Carolina native has one year of eligibility remaining.

WV Sports Now talked to Ra-El about his trip. He referred to his visit as “great” and said he could really see himself enjoying West Virginia. He especially liked that WVU is located in a college town compared to a big city and respects the passion Mountaineer Nation has for their team.
“Itโs a great college town. Just being here, I can tell people care about the culture of WVU football here. Morgantown is a place I can see myself at!”

When asked what the WVU coaches told him, Ra-El said they explained opportunity they could provide and how they strive to help players achieve their goals.
Ra-El recorded 84 total tackles, six pass deflections, 5.5 tackles for a loss, and one interception in 2023. He has 132 tackles in three years at ODU. He ended up picking WVU over Big 12 foe Cincinnati.
