Pair of WVU Basketball Players File as NBA Draft Early Entrants

A pair of WVU basketball players, Treysen Eaglestaff and Brenen Lorient, have filed as early entry candidates for the 2025 NBA Draft, according to a release by the league on Tuesday.

Eaglestaff and Lorient, both of whom transferred to WVU this offseason, are among the 106 players who have filed as early entrants for the draft. Players can withdraw from the draft consideration as late as June 15 and college players, like Eaglestaff and Lorient, can withdraw by May 28 and maintain their eligibility. Players file as early entrants to receive feedback from professional scouts and get a feel for how they are viewed by NBA teams, even if they intend to return to college.

Eaglestaff transferred to WVU from North Dakota and officially signed with the Mountaineers last week. The 6-foot-6, 190-pound guard averaged 18.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists this year for North Dakota and was considered one of the top 100 players in the transfer portal. In fact, he scored over 1,300 total points and made 221 three-pointers throughout his three-year career at North Dakota.

Lorient was one of the first players to commit to WVU this offseason, following new coach Ross Hodge from North Texas. Lorient averaged 11.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game as a junior this season. He was voted first-team All-AAC and was the American Athletic Conference Sixth Man of the Year.

In addition to Eaglestaff and Lorient, WVU basketball has also brought in Honor Huff, Chance Moore, Harlan Obioha, Jasper Floyd and Jackson Fields from the transfer portal this spring.

Around the Big 12, Arizona’s Jaden Bradley and Carter Bryant, BYU’s Egor Demin, Baylor’s VJ Edgecomb, Arizona State’s Joson Sanon, Houston’s Milos Uzan and Texas Tech’s Darrion Williams all filed as early draft entrants. Former Mountaineer Tucker DeVries did not file after transferring to Indiana this offseason.
