Mountaineers in the Pros
Sean Martin on WVU Career, Representing State at NFL Combine

WVU product Sean Martin spoke with reporters, including Sports Now’s Joe Smeltzer, at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis on Wednesday. Martin discussed what it means to him to represent West Virginia, talked his college career and even brought up his relationship with former WVU defensive line coach Andrew Jackson.
“Obviously, I didn’t reach all the goals I wanted. But I feel like just doing my job, staying loyal, staying loyal to Coach (Neal) Brown. I feel like I just did a good job setting an example for younger kids in West Virginia,” said Martin when asked how he would summarize his college career and what representing West Virginia and WVU at the next level would mean to him.
In addition to his time at the Combine, Martin also played in the East-West Shrine Bowl in January as he’s pursuing an opportunity in the NFL.
While he won’t be playing under Rich Rodriguez, Martin said he wishes the new staff the best and he feels the Mountaineers will be successful in 2025 and beyond.
Martin, a native of Bluefield, W.Va., spent his entire college career as a Mountaineer. He worked his way up from learning under a WVU great like Dante Stills to becoming a leader for the defense.
