Why WVU Football Fans Should Keep an Eye on Big Ten Transfer CB
There’s good reason for WVU football fans to keep an eye on a Big Ten transfer who recently decided to enter the portal.
Wisconsin cornerback Geimere Latimer intending to hit the portal leaves the opportunity for multiple reunions in Morgantown.
Now in search of his third college program, Latimer transferred up to Wisconsin ahead of the 2025 season after playing for Rich Rodriguez at Jacksonville State. Latimer even spent a season under WVU defensive coordinator Zac Alley in 2023.

The now 5-foot-10, 191-pound Latimer recorded 56 total tackles with four interceptions and a forced fumble in two seasons for Rodriguez.
But in addition to his familiarity with Rodriguez’s “Hard Edge” philosophy, Latimer would even have someone even closer to him on the roster.
His younger brother, running back Amari Latimer, signed with West Virginia as a member of the 2026 recruiting class.
And most importantly, Latimer would be a nice pickup as the Mountaineers try to rebuild their secondary for 2026. He did post 23 total tackles and a forced fumble for Wisconsin, providing him important actual on the field experience as a Power Four contributor as well.
Time will tell if Latimer does decide to reunite with his deep connections at WVU or look elsewhere for the next step in his journey.
